PH sets new record in daily COVID-19 vaccination

The Philippines broke its record in the number of coronavirus vaccinations in a single day twice this week, according to an official of the country’s task force against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

National Task Force Against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Secretary Vince Dizon

National Task Force Against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Secretary Vince Dizon said the country administered a record-high of over 391,000 vaccine doses on July 15.

The latest figure surpassed the previous record of 375,000 shots administered on July 12.

“Ngayong linggong ito, dalawang beses tayong nag-break ng record (This week, we broke the record twice),” Dizon said in a public briefing on Friday, July 16.

“Noong Lunes, nag-break tayo ng record, 375,000 na doses na nabakuna natin in one day. Na-break ulit ang record. Kahapon tayo ay nag 391,000 (On Monday, we broke the record, 375,000 doses administered in one day. The record was broken again. Yesterday we had 391,000),” he added.

The country has so far received the delivery of a total of 22,930,710 doses of coronavirus vaccines.

More than 1.15 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine arrived on Friday.

The latest vaccine supply shipment includes those purchased through a tripartite agreement between the local private sector, the national government, and British biopharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca.

“Kahit na kulang pa ang supply natin, pinapakita ng mga LGU natin, ng mga provincial governments natin, ng ating private sector, na kaya nating magbakuna nang mabilis at madami (Even though we still lack supply, our LGUs, our provincial governments, our private sector, show that we can vaccinate quickly and in large numbers),” Dizon said.
