Potential running mates Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Senator Panfilo Lacson on Wednesday night, July 14, met leaders of the Aksyon Demokratiko party, in what appears to be a part of their preparations for the 2022 elections.
"Auspicious talks with Aksyon Demokratiko!" Sotto wrote on Facebook Thursday, July 15, posting a group photo of him and Lacson with Aksyon Demokratiko members, including his nephew, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, who is the political party's executive vice president.

Aksyon Demokratiko is a political party founded by late senator Raul Roco. In the 2019 midterm elections, it endorsed the candidacies of opposition bets for senator.
It also supported the Luntiang Pilipinas party-list whose second nominee was Ciara Sotto, the Senate President's daughter.
Sotto and Lacson have been meeting local government officials as well as business and civil groups as part of their consultative tour for the upcoming elections. The two are mulling to run for vice president and president, respectively.
The Senate leader said that aside from Aksyon Demokratiko, they have also been meeting with other political parties for "possible alliances".
He said he will consult the Nationalist Peoples' Coalition (NPC), which he currently chairs, about the alliance with Aksyon during their general meeting on July 29.
Last July 10, Sotto hinted his and Lacson's interest to file their respective candidacies for the 2022 polls, saying their consultations have so far been "very encouraging".
He said they will announce their decision whether or not to run for higher national posts on August 5.
Malacañang, meanwhile, welcomed Lacson and Sotto's possible tandem in 2022.
