NCT’s Taeil sets new Guinness World Records title on Instagram followers

Taeil, member of K-pop boy band NCT, has set a new world record on Instagram.

According to Guinness World Records, Taeil broke the record for the fastest time to reach one million followers on Instagram.

Taeil launched his Instagram account, https://www.instagram.com/mo.on_air, on July 6, and it garnered one million followers in just one hour and 45 minutes, according to Guinness.

“Thank you to all the fans! I was so surprised when I heard the news! I never imagined myself becoming a Guinness World Records titleholder, and am truly grateful for all the love and support. I would not be here without my members and our NCTzens. I’ll try my best to connect and communicate even more through socials. I love you all!” Taeil told Guinness about the new record he set.

Guinness World Records said Taeil broke the record previously set by “Harry Potter” star Rupert Grint who reached one million followers on Instagram in four hours and one minute in November 2020.

But NCT fans pointed out to Guinness World Records that NCT’s Renjun should have been recognized for the record and not Grint as he reached one million followers on Instagram in two hours and five minutes.

A Twitter account tagged Guinness World Records about Renjun’s record last June 24. The organization replied, “Our team are currently looking into this!!” but did not officially recognize his record.

Before Grint, the organization said, the Instagram record holders were Sir David Attenborough, Jennifer Aniston, David Beckham, Pope Francis and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
