“We send our deepest condolences to the Lapus family and friends and ask for your prayers to help them through this time of grief,” LWUA said.

An engineer by profession, Lapus was a former representative of Tarlac province before he assumed the post as LWUA chief in 2017.

Several local water districts across the country have paid their respects to Lapus through social media following his untimely passing. He was recognized for his contributions to the sector.

Lapus has been supporting and pushing for the creation of the Department of Water to oversee the management of water utilities in the country.

LWUA is a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) with a specialized lending function mandated by law to promote and oversee the development of water supply systems in provincial cities and municipalities outside of Metro Manila.
