YouTube: BTS’ ‘Permission to Dance’ MV gets 72.3-M views in first 24 hours

K-pop superstars BTS’ new music video “Permission to Dance” has garnered more than 72 million views in the first 24 hours of release.

According to YouTube, the “Permission to Dance” MV accumulated 72.3 million views in the first 24 hours since its release on July 9.

With this, “Permission to Dance” is now in sixth place on YouTube’s Top 10 All-Time 24-Hour Music Debuts list.

The entry of the BTS music video pushed Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” music video out of the top 10. Grande’s MV had 55.4 million views and placed 10th before “Permission to Dance” came along.

BTS now have five music videos on YouTube’s top 10 most viewed MVs in the first 24 hours of release.

Last May, BTS set a new all-time record for the most watched music video debut through “Butter,” which garnered 108.2 million views.

“Butter” MV also set a new record for the biggest music video Premiere on YouTube with over 3.9 million peak concurrent. The YouTube Premiere record refers to the total number of viewers who watched the music video at the same time.
