The DSWD Region IV-A announced this on Monday, July 12, in a Facebook post.

Under the agreement, the provincial government of Batangas will be allocating 5,356 square-meter land for the establishment of the regional warehouse.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista said the construction of the regional warehouse will help expedite the delivery of assistance to disaster victims in Batangas and nearby provinces.

The DSWD Region IV-A said the regional warehouse will serve as additional storage of the Department’s relief goods for Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region.

It said the MOA provides that the “DSWD will build a regional warehouse on the allocated land for five years and the Department can use it for 25 years.”

The DSWD Region IV-A reported that more than 12,000 relief supplies have already been prepositioned in various warehouses in Batangas province as part of its preparation for the possible eruption of the Taal Volcano. These include 8,500 family food packs, 1,732 sleeping kits, 1,760 hygiene kits and 50 kitchen kits.

The relief supplies are currently in place in the warehouses of the local governments in Batangas City, Laurel and Agoncillo, it said.

Currently, the regional warehouse of DSWD is located in Cavite, while the national warehouse is in Pasay City.
