Three matches usher start of PVL Open Conference on July 17

Three matchups usher the start of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on July 17 at the PCV Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

The Chery Tiggo Crossovers and returning PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters raise the curtain at 1 p.m., followed by the Perlas Spikers and debuting Cignal HD Spikers at 4 p.m.

Capping off the day will be the anticipated thrilling match between the Creamline Cool Smashers against newcomer Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors at 7 p.m.

The conference marks as the first since the league turned pro late last year and the first local volleyball tournament since the pandemic.

Matches will be held everyday except Saturday under a bubble-type setup and a “no audience” policy to adhere with health and safety protocols.

Scheduled matches until Aug. 6 were also moved from the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena in Laoag after the city was played under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) starting Saturday.

The municipality of Bacarra is seven kilometers north of Laoag City.

Meanwhile, July 18 matches pit the Petro Gazz Angels against the Army Black Mamba at 3 p.m., followed by the BaliPure Water Defenders versus the Choco Mucho Flying Titans at 6 p.m.

A total of 10 teams are competing in the tournament after the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers decided to skip the conference.
