CBCP invites faithful to observe World Day of Grandparents and Elderly
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines–Episcopal Commission on Family and Life has invited the faithful to observe the first World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly on July 25.

To be held in partnership with the CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Youth and the Liturgy and the Catholic Grandparents Association of the Philippines, a three-day virtual national conference of grandparents and the elderly will be held from July 22 to 24.
“The Episcopal Commission on Family and Life has partnered with the Episcopal Commission on Youth and on Liturgy and with the Catholic Grandparents Association (CGA) of the Philippines to offer a three-day virtual conference on July 22 to 24. Everyone is invited, especially the elderly and the young,” said the CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Family and Life.
The three-day virtual conference will feature reflections on the importance of grandparents and the elderly in strengthening the Christian faith and values in every family.
His Holiness Pope Francis recently declared July 25 as the World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly with the theme “I am with you always” to highlight the importance of grandparents and the elderly in strengthening the spiritual life of every family member particularly at a time of pandemic. The event also highlights the important contributions of grandparents and the elderly to the society and community in the propagation of faith.
The first World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly on July 25 precedes the Feast of Saints Joachim and Ann, the patron saint of grandparents on July 26. The saints are the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the grandparents of Jesus.
