CEBU CITY – Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio admitted she is open to running for president in 2022.
“Yes, opo,” Duterte-Carpio’s reply when asked by reporters during her visit at the Cebu Capitol Friday afternoon.
While she is not closing her doors on a possible presidential bid, Duterte-Carpio clarified nothing is final yet.
"Ang importante sa pagkakaron is mahibal an namo kung unsay ginahunahuna sa mga tawo ug unsay gusto sa mga tawo (What is important now is for us to know the sentiments of the people and what they really want)," she said.
Duterte-Carpio was made aware of the "Run Sara Run" tarpaulins sprouting in Metro Cebu.
"Magpasalamat ko sa mga supporters nako dinhi sa Cebu sa ilang trust and confidence sa akoa and that is one of the reasons nga naa mi dinhi because we want to ask the people kung unsa ba gyud ang ilang gusto (I thank supporters here in Cebu for their trust and confidence and that is one of the reasons why I am here to ask the people what they really wanted)," Duterte-Caprio said.
Duterte-Carpio and Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia held a two-hour close-door, meeting at the Cebu Provincial Capitol.
Duterte-Carpio said the meeting did not focus on politics.
The lady mayor, however, said she will return to Cebu soon with her Hugpong Ng Pagbabago partymates for further consultation with their supporters.
