More than one million doses of the AstraZeneca coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine arrived as a donation from the Japanese government Thursday night, July 8, 2021, that could restart the country’s vaccination rollout that was temporarily hobbled by the lack of vaccines.
In his speech after the arrival of the vaccines, President Duterte urged Filipinos to have themselves vaccinated as the government expressed optimism that population protection could be achieved in Metro Manila by November.
The World Bank also issued an apology to the Philippine government, and the Department of Education (DepEd) for the "inadvertent release" of a report on the poor learning outcomes of Filipino students.
