Thousands of motorcycle license plates ready for distribution in Central Visayas

CEBU CITY â€“ The Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas (LTO Region 7) has reminded the public that thousands of motorcycle plates are ready for distribution.

The LTO Region 7 advised motorcycle owners to start claiming their plates as the agency will intensify its crackdown against motorcycles plying on the streets with no registration plates.

LTO Region 7 New Registration Unit (NRU) acting chief Claro Lumagas said that 140,091 motorcycle plates in 2018 are left unclaimed.

To speed up the distribution, the LTO Region 7 has allowed walk-ins at their Temporary Offsite Plate Distribution Office at the Seaview Wing of the SM Seaside City Cebu starting Wednesday, July 7.

The July 7 to July 11 distribution will prioritize the releasing of plates for motorcycles that were registered in January 2018.

When claiming, owners are advised to bring a photocopy of the Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration (OR/CR) of their motorcycle together with their government-issued ID and a photocopy of the ID.

Lumagas said they can accommodate around 100 to 200 clients per day both walk-ins and via appointment.

He added that a Public Assistance Complaints Desk (PACD), verifier, and personnel who will retrieve the plates are in place at the offsite plate distribution office.

As of July 6, there were only 1,887 motorcycle plates that were released by the region to the owners and the dealers.

Verification of motorcycle plates is still available where owners can text the details of their motorcycle registration such as plate number, MV file number, registration date, and name of the owner to 0947-349-9965, Lumagas said.
