The PPO stages a throwback concert


The classical meets the classic sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s

The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) is staging its next series of online concerts entitled “The PPO Spotlight: Virtual Pocket Performances.” It will be streamed on July 9, 2021 through the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP) website and YouTube channel.

Focusing on the ‘70s to ‘80s era of Manila sound, the program for July 9 will feature pieces such as “TL Ako Sa’yo” by Snaffu Rigor, played by Frenvee Andra on bassoon; “Ikaw ang Miss Universe” by Hotdog, performed by the PPO viola section; “Ang Buhay Ko” by Asin, to be interpreted by Dino Akira Decena on Violin and Jascha Obieta Decena on Piano; “Kapag Puso’y Sinugatan” by Willy Cruz, to be rendered by Adolfo Mendoza on basoon; and “VST Medley” by VST & Co., to be performed by the brass quintet and percussion section.

The PPO Online Pocket Performance Series, which has been running since February 2021 until the end of July, is a program of the PPO and it can be viewed from the PPO Facebook page and the CCP official YouTube channel.
