Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso called on the public not to scam or prank delivery riders after fake orders were placed under his name and delivered to his office.
“Alam naman po natin na marami ang gusto lang maghanapbuhay nang tapat at marangal. Huwag na natin sila i-prank, pagtripan o i-harass sa mga pekeng deliveries natin. This is not a laughing matter (We all know that these riders just want to work honestly and honorably. Please do not prank, poke fun of, or harass the riders with fake deliveries),” the mayor said.
In a report Thursday, the local government of Manila said five riders were scammed by a fake online order.
The LGU said the orders were booked in different mobile delivery apps by users with different international mobile numbers.
"Pakidala po sa mayors office thank you pa assist nlng po kayo (Please deliver it here in the mayor's office thank you just ask for assistance),” read the message of the scammer to one rider.
Days ago, actress Kris Bernal also fell victim to fake food delivery bookings which were made through the Grab delivery app over the weekend.
Grab Philippines, for its part, said it has conducted an investigation on the matter.
