K-pop boy band Super Junior member Kim Heechul, 37, and girl group TWICE’s Japanese member Momo (real name Momo Hirai), 24, have broken up, their agencies confirmed.
A Korean media outlet reported on July 8 that Heechul and Momo parted ways after being in a relationship for one year and six months.
"I know that Kim Heechul and Momo broke up,” an entertainment official told Maeil Business Daily.
An official told the media outlet that Heechul and Momo were busy with their activities so their relationship started to collapse. They ended their romantic relationship and returned as senior and junior in the music industry.
Heechul’s agency, Label SJ, and TWICE’s agency, JYP Entertainment, confirmed on July 8 that the two K-pop idols broke up.
"After confirmation, it is true that they have broken up. We ask for your understanding as it is difficult to give the details due to the artist's private life," said Label SJ.
JYP Entertainment also said, “After confirmation, it is true that they have broken up.”
Heechul and Momo became embroiled in dating rumors in August 2019 but denied it. In January 2020, they finally confirmed that they were a couple.
"After getting along as close colleagues of show business, the two have recently started liking and dating each other," said Label SJ, Yonhap News reported.
Heechul debuted in Super Junior in 2005 while Momo made her debut in TWICE in 2015.
