Trillanes inisists he has 'airtight case' against Duterte, Go
Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV believes that he has an “airtight case” against President Duterte and his former long-time aide, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, over the alleged P6.6 billion in government contracts that Go’s family’s business received while the President is in power.

Normally, corrupt public officials would hide behind dummy accounts but with Go, Trillanes said there was no need to prove the connection because his father and half-brother were the signatories in the government contracts in Davao City and Davao region.
“Dito ka makakita na diretso, pamilya talaga. Oo, airtight case po ito, according sa mga lawyers na nakonsulta natin. Kasi ‘di mo na ipu-prove ‘yung links dun sa kanya kasi tatay and kapatid ‘yun eh (This is where you can see that the link is there because it’s his family. Yes, this is an airtight case, according to the lawyers we have consulted. You don’t have to prove the links because it is his father and brother),” Trillanes said over Radyo Singko.
The former senator revealed his plans to file a case against the two after Duterte steps down from office in June 2022, as he dispelled fears of “whitewash” over the investigation on his corruption allegation.
“Ginagamit niya ang kapangyarihan at impluwensiya para ma-white wash, ma-cover-up ang krimen niya (He is using his power and influence to whitewash and cover up his crime),” he said.
Trillanes, now a professor, recalled that in 2016, before Duterte won as President, he filed a plunder case against him for having ghost employees in Davao and for the P2.2-billion hidden wealth in his bank accounts.
The case was eventually terminated, but he maintained that the Ombudsman received documents from the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to prove the allegations are true.
On Monday, July 5, Trillanes alleged that he has documents from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Commission on Audit (COA) showing Go’s family’s construction business got P6.6 billion worth of public works contracts despite it being prohibited in the law for close associates of an elected official to enter into government projects.

Go already denied the allegations, saying these were rehashed from years ago. The former senator, however, also said that he will file the appropriate cases against Duterte and Go once they are not in power anymore.
“Actually, marami kaming binibuild-up na kaso sa mga ito. Sigurado na diretso sila sa kulungan (Actually, we are building up many cases against them. They will surely go straight to prison),” Trillanes said.
“Ipa-file po natin ‘yan next year kapag wala na sila sa pwesto (We are going to file that next year when they are not in power). They are not in the position to influence the outcome of the investigation,” he added.
This is also the reason why the Duterte camp is “desperate” to hold on to power, the former senator alleged.
There are talks that Duterte plans to run as vice president in the 2022 polls. This is something the Chief Executive admitted to be open to.
Trillanes maintains that he has the documents to prove his latest accusations even as Duterte dismissed these during his prerecorded public address aired on early Wednesday, July 7, as “daldal lang nang daldal (all-talk).”

“I standby my track record,” he said, adding that all his accusations against former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile have been proven.
