DAVAO CITY – The Mati City government has warned the public against bogus business online sellers.

The local government unit (LGU) issued the warning following complaints received about the activity of an online seller whose address is 89 Rizal St., Mati City.

Mati City Information Office head Ben Tesiorna said that the Davao Gadgets Online Facebook page has allegedly been selling various gadgets online at cheap prices.

But the business would allegedly only ask for down payment from interested buyers and once payment has been made, the buyer will be blocked from messaging their Facebook page.

“And if the buyer would like to check their supposed store at 89 Rizal St., they would no longer reply to the interested buyer,” Tesiorna said.

He added that as a result of numerous inquiries, the City Information Office decided to check the supposed store of the online seller and it was found to be non-existent.

The Business Permits and Licensing Office confirmed that they have no registered online seller by the name of Davao Gadgets Online in their roster.

“We are issuing this announcement to warn the public against dealing with online business sellers who have no business permits,” Tesiorna said.

The city urged all online business owners to register their business with the local government to legitimize transactions. The public is also urged to exercise prudence in dealing business online.
