Barangay kagawad shot dead in Pangasinan town

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — A village councilman (barangay kagawad) was shot dead this morning along the national highway of Barangay Pogomboa, Aguilar town.

Initial reports reveal the victim, Remegio Servanda, 68, of Barangay Tampac, Aguilar, was on board his motorcycle along the said highway when he was waylaid by still unidentified suspects on board another motorcycle at around 6:30 in the morning today.

The suspects immediately ran away to the opposite direction from whence they came.

Servanda was rushed by the RHU to Blessed Trinity Hospital in Mangatarem town, but was declared dead on arrival.

As of writing, police are processing the crime scene, while massive follow-up operations are being conducted by Aguilar PNP and neighboring police stations.
