Amid Lambda variant threat, Eleazar reminds public to observe health safety measures
Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), urged on Tuesday, July 6, the public to continue observing the minimum public health safety protocol amid the detection of another variant of the coronavirus disease which is described as fast-spreading and riskier for vulnerable sector.
The Lambda variant of COVID-19 has not been detected in the country but experts warned that it could lead to surge of cases if it reaches the country.
"COVID variants are getting more dangerous now so we will keep on reminding the public to continue observing the health safety protocols for their protection," said Eleazar.
“The cooperation of our kababayan in the implementation of the minimum public health safety protocol is itself a strong first line of defense against the spread of the virus, no matter what variant it is,” he added.
Eleazar also urged the public to put their trust on vaccines approved by experts and get themselves inoculated once available: “Getting vaccinated will protect not only yourself but also your family and loved ones.
Eleazar vowed that the PNP would continue its duty of protecting the public by enforcing the protocols set by the national government in this fight against the pandemic.
