Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Monday assured the residents that botched vaccinations won’t happen in the city.
The lady mayor made the assurance following a viral video which shows a health worker injects the needle into a resident’s arm but fails to press the plunger that will push the contents of the syringe.
“We guarantee that the said unfortunate incident or anything similar won’t happen in our city”, Mayor Belmonte said.
After the viral video, some vaccinated residents have called the City Health Department to express concern whether or not they really had received their vaccine shots.
There were no reported cases of failed vaccination among the more than 880,000 administered shots in Quezon City.
“Mas mainam na kunan natin ng video ang proseso ng pagbabakuna para masigurong naiturok nga sa atin ang bakuna (It would be better to take video of the vaccination process to make sure the vaccines were administered properly),” she said.
“To erase any doubt and for their peace of mind, we already instructed our vaccinators to show the syringe to the recipients before and after the inoculation,” Quezon City Health Department head Dr. Esperanza Arias said.
Arias assured the residents that all vaccination sites are supervised by senior health department staff, and the health workers work in shifts to avoid exhaustion.
