A traffic enforcer in Manila was sacked after he was caught on video extorting money from a truck driver he accused of violating traffic rules.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, in his regular live update on July 2, reported the sacking of traffic enforcer Oliver Fernandez.
Fernandez was fired by the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) on June 29, a day after the video of the incident reached its office.
On June 28, truck driver Proceso Esteban Gonzales got pulled over by Fernandez in Tondo for allegedly violating multiple traffic rules.
In the video, Fernandez initially asked Gonzales to “settle” the issue by giving him P5,000 but after bargaining, the amount was reduced to P2,000.
The P2,000 bribe was reportedly transferred to Fernandez’s virtual wallet since Gonzales didn't have money when he was pulled over.
In an interview with GMA News, MTPB Operations chief Wilson Chan said Fernandez admitted to extorting money worth P2,000 from Gonzales.
Domagoso, for his part, said the local government of Manila will “not tolerate” any official who will commit irregularities in the performance of their duty.
The mayor said Fernandez’s termination serves as a warning to authorities who will deceive or scam the people of Manila.
“Kayong mga ‘tolongges’...’yan ang mahihita ninyo pag kayo ay nang-agrabayado ng mamayaman ng lungsod ng Maynila at ng mga taong dumadayo sa Maynila, no ifs, no buts (To the ‘tolonges’...this is what you will get for taking advantage of Manila residents or anyone who will visit Manila, no ifs no buts),” he said.
