DSWD chief visits evacuation centers in Batangas


Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista has personally visited some evacuation centers in the municipalties of Laurel and Agoncillo in Batangas province to personally look into situation of the evacuee-families.

Bautista’s visit on Friday, July 2, was disclosed by DSWD Region IV-A in a Facebook post.

“Ilan sa mga pangangailangang nakita sa mga evacuation centers ay ang suplay ng pagkain at tubig, face masks, tents, sleeping mats at hygiene kits (Some of the needs observed in the evacuation centers are the supply of food and water, face masks, tents, sleeping mats and hygiene kits),” read the DSWD Region IV-A’s Facebook post on Friday.

Tiniyak ni Sec. Bautista na ang mga pangangailangang ito ay tutugunan sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga lokal na pamahalaan at iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno (Sec. Bautista assured these needs will be addressed in collaboration with local governments and other government agencies),” it further wrote.

The DSWD reported that more than 1,282 persons or 317 families are currently staying in 11 evacuation centers in Batangas province.

The department said it has initially provided 1,000 modular and family tents, and is set to dispatch 10,500 family food packs to families in Batangas and Cavite affected by Taal Volcano’s unrest.
