Thick volcanic smog envelopes Tagaytay as LGU prepares to take in evacuees
TAGAYTAY CITY - Thick volcanic smog or vog enveloped the city on Friday (July 2), a day after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) raised Taal Volcano’s status to Alert Level 3.
Photos taken by the lakeside show the landscape of the popular weekend destination covered in vog.

"Maraming motorista na tumitigil at nagpi-picture sa mga spot na natatanaw ang bulkan, pero balot pa din po ng makapal na smog (Many motorists are pulling over to take photos of the volcano, but it's still covered in thick smog)," professional photographer Ronel Dimaranan told the Manila Bulletin.

Fortunately, the vog is not causing reduced road visibility or other serious effects.
Tagaytay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) officer-in-charge Jose Clyde Yayong told the Manila Bulletin that they're now focused on preparing to take in evacuees from Batangas.
Tagaytay's neighboring town, Alfonso, already took in evacuees from Laurel, Batangas evening of July 1. Evacuees underwent swab testing before they were taken to the evacuation center.
