To ensure that the vaccine is properly administered, the Department of Health (DOH) said that local government units (LGUs) may include in their coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination protocols showing syringe to the jab recipients before and after their inoculation.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that they already recommended this measure to the different vaccination sites.
"Kung sa tingin ng ating mga vaccination sites na mas makakabuti na ipakita sa ating mga kababayan ang hiringgilya bago iturok at ang hiringilya pagkatapos iturok---ito po ay aming susuportahan (If our vaccination sites think it would be better to show to our recipients the syringe before and after their vaccination --- we will support that)," she said on Friday, July 2.
"Kung ito ay gagawin ng ating mga vaccination sites para sa ikakapanatag ng loob ng ating kababayan, we can do that (If our vaccination sites will do this for the peace of mind of the public, then we can do that)," she added.
Recently, videos of vaccinators who failed to properly administer the COVID-19 vaccines made rounds on social media platforms.
Vergeire said that they do not see any ill intentions on the part of those healthcare workers.
“Itong mga nakikita natin lapse in the processes, wala naman pong masamang intention. These are just really human errors na gusto natin ma improve in the coming days (The lapses we have been observing in the processes, there are no bad intentions. These are just really human errors that we want to improve in the coming days),” said the DOH spokesperson.
Vergeire said that they will not penalize those healthcare workers.
“We do not intend to penalize anybody...Iniimbestigahan natin lahat iyan para mas maging mabuti ang ginagawa natin in the coming days (We are investigating all that so that we can improve our processes in the coming days),” she said.
Vergeire said that vaccinators underwent a refresher course on the vaccination protocols.
“We are re-orienting them. We are giving them constant advise from the time that it happened until now,” she said.
