TRENDING! Bea Alonzo's network transfer is hot topic on social media

Actress Bea Alonzo's name trended on Twitter after GMA Network announced her as new Kapuso.

Many netizens were only too eager to share their opinion on the matter.

While most are happy about it, some feel bad that she left ABS-CBN after 20 years.

"I guess the amount of attention and the level of emotion being generated in the wake of Bea Alonzo's formal departure from ABS-CBN are screaming testaments to how big and important star she is. But so long, Bea. The institution will stay without you. #KapamilyaForever," an online user wrote.

He added: "Bea Alonzo leaving ABS-CBN at a time it is recuperating from its biggest tragedy is a perfect allusion to that iconic line in 'One More Chance,' the film that gave her her 1st BOQ crown. You had ABS-CBN at its best, the ones who stay are having it at its worst #KapamilyaForever."

A few insisted Bea "will never make it without ABS-CBN."

"The stars leaving the Kapamilya network means they never valued ABS-CBN that much. It is like leaving your ailing mother just to save your ass. Either that or they don't have enough savings," one related.

Meanwhile, others defended Bea's decision.

"People bashing Bea Alonzo for transferring to another network shows how terrible the 'utang na loob' culture/mindset here in the Philippines. Please your disappointment won't pay her bills," one pointed out.

Another added, "If you’re bitter when an artist transfers networks, you’re part of the problem why the PH entertainment industry doesn’t prosper that much in the global scene. If you support all Filipino talents regardless of networks, we’d be powerful. Crab mentality is a disease."

On the other hand, another user maintained that Bea leaving ABS-CBN is both "pressure and measure" to GMA whether they can produce "quality content."

"They already have caliber actors so it's time to see the power of their directors, scriptwriters, production and marketing. Let's see if they can step up their games."
