Man arrested after blackmailing a woman over nude photos and videos

A 41-year-old man allegedly blackmailing a 24-year old woman to upload her nude photos and videos on social media was arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by authorities of Mabalacat City, Pampanga, on June 28.

According to Colonel Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, Pampanga police director, joint elements of Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit-3 and Mabalacat City police conducted an entrapment operation at SOGO Hotel in Brgy. Dau and resulted in the arrest of Rowel Chico Solomon, 41, married, of Brgy. Ilog Baliwag, Sto Rosario, Nueva Ecija.

His victim was identified as “Charice” (not her real name), 24, single, of Magalang, Pampanga.

Prior to the arrest, Solomon posed as a handler and offered the victim a job with high compensation to perform lewd acts online in exchange for a huge amount of money. After which, the suspect asked the victim to have actual sexual intercourse with a certain “Jay” and record their sexual act and send it to their handler for payment of P600,000.00 but the victim refused.

Subsequently, the victim received continuous messages from the suspect threatening her that if she failed to do so, her nude screenshot videos will be spread on social media, which prompted the victim to report the incident.

Appropriate charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion); RA 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009); and RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2009) are being readied against the suspect filing before the Office of the City Prosecutor, Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
