
Indonesian Consul General Dicky Fabian, on June 26, Saturday, awarded a Certificate of Commendation to Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi commander Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas for the unit’s efforts in rescuing four Indonesian hostages of the Abu Sayyaf.
The awarding was held at the 2nd Marine Brigade headquarters in Sanga-Sanga, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
The victims were rescued in separate operations last March.
The operation is part of continuing cooperation between the two countries in fostering bilateral relations.
Fabian said the contribution of the marines exemplifies and dedication and commitment to mutual interest of the Philippines and Indonesia.
Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command commander, thanked the Indonesian government for recognizing the efforts of the military.
Fabrian was accompanied by Puguh Tedjobaskoro, protocol and consul affairs officer; Galih Priya, immigration officer; Kartika Perdhana, commander; and Bambang Widodo, chief indonesian liaison officer, among others.
