2 charged, 9 sex trafficking victims rescued in Tacloban City

AUTHORITIES record pieces of evidence from two suspected human traffickers in Tacloban City.

TACLOBAN CITY -- Two individuals were charged Saturday, June 26, while nine female human trafficking victims were rescued in simultaneous entrapment and rescue operations here.

Charged for violation of Section 6 of Republic Act 10364 or qualified trafficking in person at the City Prosecutor’s Office here were Jason Pambojan, alias "Kara," 24, a standup comedian and hairdresser, and Khrisha Alvarez, 25, both from this city.

The victims, including a 16-year-old female, were rescued by joint personnel from the Women's and Children's Protection Desk, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking at around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 24.

Investigation disclosed that victims were used to offer sexual services in social media sites for monetary consideration.

Their pictures are being posted in a site with price tags like commodities for sale.

During the arrest, authorities seized pieces of evidence, including condoms and boodle money.
