Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) and its subsidiaries, Fresh N’ Famous Foods, Inc. (FNF) and Mang Inasal Philippines, Inc. (MI), has entered into a license agreement with Milkshop International Co., Ltd., a popular Taiwanese Bubble tea brand.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Jollibee said the agreement grants JFC, FNF and MI the exclusive rights to sell and market products under the Milksha brand in their stores.
“The current plan is for Milksha products to be sold in Chowking stores, but JFC has the option to expand Milksha’s presence to its other Philippine restaurant brands,” it added.
Bubble Tea is a popular drink in the Philippines served widely by tea shops in malls, commercial centers and food parks. This licensing agreement with Milksha provides the JFC Group the opportunity to participate in this fast-growing beverage category.
Milksha, also known as Milkshop in Taiwan, has been recognized as “The BEST bubble tea” drink brand by DCard, Taiwan’s largest anonymous communication platform. It is also the No.1 in Brand Awareness & Preference among bubble tea brands by the DailyView.
The first Milkshop opened in Tainan in 2004 and now has over 260 outlets, with over 235 outlets in Taiwan and 34 overseas – Singapore, Australia, China, Canada and Japan.
The Suntec City Singapore flagship which opened in 2019 is Milksha’s first outlet in Southeast Asia.
“We are thrilled to bring Milksha to Filipino consumers through the stores of our brands in the Philippines,” said Jollibee Founder and Chairman Tony Tan Caktiong.
He added that, “Our customers can now enjoy from our restaurants both our high-quality food and one of the best bubble teas which is made from very high quality and healthy dairy ingredients.”
Milkshop Founder and Chairman Kevin Lin said “We admire JFC’s passionate commitment to delivering great tasting food at great value for money. We are proud to be working with the people of JFC to bring and grow Milksha in the Philippines.”
