Subservience blamed for increased presence of Chinese vessels within PH EEZ
President Duterte’s "five-year betrayal" to the Filipino people is tempting China to continue bullying the Philippines as more Chinese vessels are found in the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) located within the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
This allegation was fired by Anakpawis Party-list National President and former lawmaker Ariel Casilao who labeled President Duterte as a lackey of China.
Casilao said that the historical crossroad was the period immediately after the July 2016 Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) decision that favored the Philippines and demolished the senselessness of China's "nine-dash" line claim in the South China Sea.
"If only Duterte did not act as a lackey for China in October 2016, to lure them into funding his failed 'Build, Build, Build' program, Filipinos would not be losing sovereignty over the territorial waters and sovereign rights in our EEZ,’’ he stressed.
‘’Duterte is a modern traitor, a puppet of Chinese imperialism and a scourge to the national freedom of the Filipino people," Casilao added in a press statement.
As of February, around 250 Chinese vessels occupied Julian Felipe reef, within the EEZ of Palawan and Pag-asa island.
In March they were pressed to disperse as Filipinos and the international community condemned Chinese latest violation of the country's jurisdiction.
This week, the US-based geospatial intelligence firm Simularity reported that Chinese vessels increased from 129 in mid-May to 238 in mid-June.
"The Duterte puppet regime's blueprint tactics is to downplay this serious imperialist breach of Filipino sovereignty, national territory and patrimony, at the cost of fisherfolk losing livelihood, as well as undermining food security and the economy. This is exactly the definition of a traitor, putting the interest of a foreign country over Filipinos'" Casilao said.
The Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) who appealed to the United Nations intervention in April, cited that Chinese imperialist plunder in the West Philippine Sea is grossly costing the country's economy and livelihood of fisherfolk.
A former representative of Anakpawis and current Pamalakaya National Chairperson and Fernando Hicap said that Zambales fisherfolk's catch income has fallen by around 70 percent, while in Palawan, fisherfolk are suffering with dwindling catch from traditional fishing grounds in Kalayaan Island Group.
Moreover, the Agham scientists group of scientists estimated last April that the 16,000 hectares of documented reef destruction is valued at P1.92 trillion annually (around USD 27 billion).
"The ultimate solution against Chinese imperialism in the West Philippine Sea is to press Duterte to resign from his post, as he is not worthy, a real-deal puppet of a foreign power and traitor to the Filipino interest. We urge all freedom-loving Filipinos, daily condemn Duterte's betrayal and puppetry to China," he added.
