Foreign business groups are also saddened by the demise of former President Benigno S. Aquino III, whom they cited for his effective leadership and his role as partner in building bilateral relations.

“The American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines wishes to express its deepest regret on the passing of former president Benigno S. Aquino III at too young an age,” said AmCham in a statement.

Like his parents, American businessmen in the country said, “He sacrificed a comfortable life in the private sector for the many challenges and demands of national service. He did not seek the highest office, but destiny placed him there, and his thoughtful, humble, and effective leadership of an at times tumultuous democracy shown in all his actions. History will record his contributions to social, economic, foreign, and other policies, too many to describe today. We convey the sincerest condolences of our directors, members, and employees to the family of the late president.”

Meantime, the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (GPCCI) together with its members, management, and staff expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“President Aquino portrayed an important role in strengthening the German-Philippine business relations, especially during his state visit in Germany last September 2014,” said GPCCI President Stefan Schmitz.

“Furthermore, the remarkable development of the Philippine economy together with numerous political and economic reforms achieved during his reign shall be his important legacy in Philippine history.”
