Murder charges filed vs 24 suspects in IED blast that killed FEU booter

CAMP OLA, Albay – Police have filed charges against 24 suspects in the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast that killed Far Eastern University (FEU) football player Keith Absalon and his cousin early this month.

Police Major Malu Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 5, said that a team of investigators from the Masbate City Police Station (CPS) filed murder and frustrated murder charges against the suspects last June 21.

Among suspects were Mariel Cańete Suson, 22, a teacher and the daughter of Rogelio Suson, alias “Manong” and Julio,” allegedly a high ranking official of the New Peoples' Army (NPA) in Masbate.

Calubaquib said that Mariel was arrested by police last June 22 thru a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Arnelo C. Mesa of the Masbate City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 45 last June 18.

"Si Suson ay naga-apply pa lang na maging regular na teacher sa public school. Pero ngsu-substitute na siya as teacher. Sa kasalukuyan, siya ay nasa kustodiya na ng Masbate CPS (Suson had just applied to be a regular teacher in a public school. But she had been a substitute teacher and right now, she is the custody of the Masbate CPS)," Calubaquib said.

Other suspects were identified as Eddie dela Pena Rosero, alias "Ka Star"; Lara Lagac, alias "Ka Ivan” and “Kian"; Sonny Diamos; Eddie Basical Eser, alias "Ka Nono"; Mario Esparaguerra, alias "Ka Mayong"; Capitalio Mallo alias "Ka M.I."; Diolito Ochoco Medina, alias "Ka Michael and Uno"; Arlene Salazar Rance; Lloyd Mores Escorel; Ronel Plana Rodio, alias "Ka Moting"; Jomar Tugbo, alias "Ka Alden"; Jemuel Dublin; Allan Manlapas Goyala; Dolores Rapsing Bilibit, alias "Ka Oyeng"; Jhun Rapsing Bilibit, alias "Ka Paka"; Lenie Cabarles, alias "Ka Onang"; Richard Laurio, alias "Ka Nonem"; Rolly Hermina; Jesmar Noel Jesmar, alias "Ka Jesmar"; Marla Cańete Suson; Maila Cańete Suson; Gilbert Turing, and Allan Sabala Uling.

"Likewise, a case for violation of Anti-Terrorism Act is being prepared against the suspects. A total of 210 copies or sets of case folders were submitted to the panel of prosecutors namely, Atty. Aris Montilla, Regalado Ballares, Darwin Demin, and Genevieve Torres of the City Prosecution Office of Masbate City for subsequent filing with the court," Calubaquib said.

PRO 5 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo assured that the police will do everything to put the suspects behind bars.

Mariel is also the suspect in the killing of Renerio Villamor last April 22 in Masbate City and is a substitute teacher at the Kabungahan Elementary School in Cawayan, Masbate, Calubaquib said.
