Dane Kallungi, 38, of Colorado Springs was arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 16 for the murder of his wife, Jepsy Amaga Kallungi, 26. He has been charged with first-degree murder, FOX21 reported.

Police said the last time anyone had heard from Jepsy was on March 20, 2019.

“There was talk about a separation but they were married at the time this incident had occurred,” said Lt. Joe Frabbile with the Colorado Springs Police Department in a press conference in the FOX21 report.

Kallungi allegedly killed his wife by strangling her and burying her remains.

“Well, of course, the family and friends of Jepsy have always been concerned. Since March 2019, we’ve been in contact with family members in Hong Kong and Philippines and they’ve been advised of the arrest and are interested in recovering Jepsy,” Lt. Frabbile said.

Authorities are now working on extraditing Kallungi back to Colorado.

In a GMA News report, the family of the victim had already called for assistance from the Philippine government and the Philippine Embassy in Washington to help them retrieve the remains of the victim.

Jepsy moved from the Philippines to the US in 2017 to marry Kallungi after meeting on a dating website.
