Comedian Shalala passes away

Popular television host-comedian Shalala (Carmelito Masagnay Reyes in real life) has passed away. He was 61.

The announcement was made by entertainment journalist MJ Marfori on Twitter June 23.

Reports said that Reyes died of pulmonary tuberculosis.

On June 22, the television personality was rushed to the Fe Del Mundo Medical Center in Quezon City, where he was revived for a few hours. But he expired today, June 23.

Reyes rose to fame when he became the sidekick of the late German Moreno on his midnight variety show "Walang Tulugan" on GMA.

Later, Reyes appeared on several programs on ABS-CBN and TV5. His last TV appearances were for the shows "Pepito Manaloto" (GMA-7), "Wag Po!" (TV5), "Fill In The Blanks" (TV5); and "Chika Besh" (TV5).

Interment details will be announced later.
