Negros Oriental’s effort to contain the increasing number of COVID cases got a big boost from medical scholars.
During their three-week long comprehensive swabbing of first-level contacts of positive cases in Dumaguete City last week, several medical scholars of Negros Oriental volunteered to join the Batinguel Swab Team.
“Your tireless efforts and bravery to take on the fight against the unseen enemy will forever be etched in our hearts,” says the post on the province’s social media page “Ultimately, we hope to see you as one of the medical doctors in our different government hospitals soon.”
Last week Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo requested Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., National Task Force against COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) chief implementer and vaccine czar, for more doses of vaccines for Negros Oriental.
This as the province is said to be lagging behind other areas in the inoculation rollout due to slower administration of vaccines in the local government units (LGUs).
In Dumaguete City, the local government has advised residents to report violations of the health protocols to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as it released hotline numbers to the public.
In a media release Monday, the city’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) said COVID-19-related reports and queries will be accommodated through the hotlines.
The city EOC's hotline numbers are 0945 6611978 (Globe) and 09615246296 (Smart) which can be contacted daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (With a report from Philippine News Agency)
