TAGAYTAY, Cavite - A driver died from a heart attack while driving a jeep full of passengers along Mahogany Road on Monday (June 21).

According to witnesses, 55-year-old Pepe Rollon safely pulled over on the side of the road before he went unconscious.

"Tinawagan po ako sa trabaho... Sabi ng mga pasahero itinabi daw po â€˜yung jeep para wala nang madamay na iba (They called me at work... Passengers said he pulled over so that no one else will get hurt)," Rollon's daughter Kathlene Paula told the Manila Bulletin.

A photo of Rollon sitting unconscious on the driver's seat while waiting for help went viral online after being posted on Cavite Connect Facebook Page.

Rollon's fellow jeepney drivers and barangay officials immediately came to the rescue and took him to the hospital, but he was declared dead in the patrol vehicle.

According to his daughter, Rollon was confined in the Philippine General Hospital earlier this year due to a heart condition.

His doctor suggested a heart bypass, but Rollon decided not to undergo the operation.

Despite his heart ailment, Rollon continued to drive his jeep to provide for his wife and four children, three of whom are still in school.

"Siya lang po talaga 'yung nagtataguyod po samin, ako po tumutulong na rin lang (He's really the one supporting us, I'm only helping out)," Kathlene Paula who works in a computer shop said.
