As it continues to ramp up its online appointment booking, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has opened additional 219 registration centers across 21 provinces for its Step 2 registration for the Philippine Identification System (Philsys).

"As of June 12, 2021, a total of 235 registration centers are open to serve Filipinos nationwide," PSA said in a statement on Wednesday, June 16.

This is up from just 16 online registration centers across 13 provinces on May 24, 2021.

"We are glad to announce the opening of online appointment booking for these additional registration centers to accommodate more Filipinos who want to register to PhilSys," said Assistant Secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista, Deputy National Statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office of the PSA.

"In the coming weeks, PSA targets to make more areas available for online appointment booking," she added.

Online registrants who reside in select cities and municipalities with PhilSys registration centers in the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Quezon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Masbate, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Leyte may now visit register.philsys.gov.ph to register and book appointment schedules for their Step 2 Registration.

For the full list of registration centers in various cities and municipalities open for online appointment booking, the public may access the advisory released by PSA on June 12, 2021, at psa.gov.ph/content/public-advisory-29.

By booking an appointment through the PhilSys registration site, residents from identified cities and municipalities may schedule a visit to their preferred registration center for Step 2 Registration, which involves the capture of biometric information and validation of demographic data.

Online booking of appointments is part of PSA’s strategy to ensure that a manageable number of registrants visit a registration center at any time during operating hours, in compliance with health and safety standards of the Department of Health and Inter-Agency Task Force.

It advised registrants to follow their chosen schedule to avoid problems with their registration.

The PSA aims to register 50 to 70 million Filipinos by the end of the year, and the majority of the adult population by mid-2022.

It reiterated that the registration for PhilSys is free, and the PhilID will likewise be delivered to the successful registrants free of charge.
