Good job! Luxury brand Louis Vuitton recognizes BOC for its anti-smuggling drive

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has been recognized by a famous signature brand for its anti-smuggling efforts that have led to the confiscation of millions worth of fake items imitating their luxury products.

BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero received a plaque of from Louis Vuitton Monday, June 14, in recognition of the agency’s "relentless drive against smuggling and counterfeit items".

Louis Vuitton Malletier, commonly known as Louis Vuitton or "LV", is a French fashion house and luxury goods company that manufactures high-end bags, belts, shoes and other fashion items.

The brand is commonly used in imitating counterfeit items that are illegally imported to the country.

In a statement, Guerrero thanked the French brand for recognizing the bureau’s efforts against smugglers. He also thanked the representatives of Louis Vuitton for their continued support to the bureau’s drive against prohibited goods.

The commissioner also assured LV that they will "remain committed securing the country’s borders and supporting legitimate brand owners".

Over P2.1 billion worth of counterfeit goods have been seized so far this year.

On June 3 alone, P2 billion worth of various counterfeit products were uncovered from warehouses in Baclaran, Paranaque City.

Various footwear and clothing items bearing known registered trademarks such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Onitsuka Tiger, Vans, Adidas, Nike, JBL, Sony, and Jordan were found in the storage facilities.
