The annual Next@Acer Global Press Conference has introduced technologies to consumers that no one can ever imagine. This 2021, the Taiwanese tech giant has outdone itself by joining the RE100 initiative and pledging to achieve 100% renewable energy by the year 2035. In addition, Acer declared its mission to help tackle environmental challenges with its “Earthion” platform that unites the strengths of its employees and supply chain partners, and expands the circle of impact of its sustainability efforts.

“In 2020, more than 60 environment and education projects were initiated by our employees in over 40 countries. This year, we aim to achieve more. In education, we want to help bridge the digital divide and cultivate talent around the world. For the environmental, we wish to help create a greener tomorrow through innovative solutions,” Acer Chairman and CEO Jason Chen said. “We also introduced Acer Earthion. It is our mission to tackle our generation’s environmental challenges through innovation and introduce solution. It is a collaboration across supply chain, function, and multiple generations.”

These green initiatives by Acer were exemplified by the Aspire Vero notebook, its first sustainability-focused product under the Earthion platform. It is a step towards reimagining what the computer manufacturing process looks like. Post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic is used throughout the device’s chassis and keyboard caps. Eco-friendly packaging takes this a step further: the Aspire Vero ships in a box made from 80-85% recycled paper pulp, and plastic bagging for adapter protection is reduced by using paper sleeves instead. Furthermore, the laptop bag and the sheet between the keyboard and screen is made with 100% industrial recycled plastic.

At the global press conference, Acer introduced the Swift X, the newest member of its popular Swift line of notebooks. Designed to take ultra-portable PC design to the next level, this ultrathin-and-light laptop boasts an AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series Mobile Processor with “Zen 3” architecture and the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPUs.

Durable, secure and powerful with a long battery life, these notebooks are built to survive life on the go—and now include a convertible option with a Corning Gorilla Glass touch display that can be rotated 360 degrees for use in presentation, tablet, notebook and tent modes.
