Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A .Villar knows how to give credit where credit is due.
Villar, the driving force behind the Duterte administration's "Build, Build, Build" program, gave a nice shout-out to the construction workers whose efforts made the Independence Day opening of the Kalayaan Bridge (Freedom Bridge) possible.
"Maraming Salamat sa mga tunay na bayani ng bagong bukas na Kalayaan Bridge. Saludo ako sa sipag at dedikasyon niyo (Thanks a lot to the true heroes of the newly-opened Kalayaan Bridge. I salute your hard work and dedication)," Villar wrote on his Facebook Sunday, June 13.
The post came with a celebratory selfie of him and several of the laborers whom he gave recognition to.
Kalayaan Bridge--also known as the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge--was formally opened to motorists on June 12, which coincided with the 123rd Philippine Independence Day.
The 440-meter, four-lane bridge is built across the Pasig River, connecting Lawton Avenue in Makati City and Sta. Monica Street in Pasig City. It is a major linkage in the improved interconnectivity of cities in Metro Manila that the DPWH is trumpeting.
Kalayaan Bridge is dubbed as a major component of the 1.367-kilometer Bonifacio Global City (BGC)-Ortigas Center Link Road Project.
