Dingdong Dantes gunning for public office?

Because of sustained philanthropic works, among others, there's huge clamor for seasoned actor Dingdong Dantes to run in the next elections.

He set things straight in a recent interview, declaring, "I don't intend to run for a government position in 2022."

The actor also cleared rumors that there are individuals or groups of people who are convincing him to do so.

In any case, the Kapuso Primetime King did have a meeting with Mayor Vico Sotto.

They didn't talk politics, though.

It's in connection to the three-part anniversary special of a show he hosts, GMA Network's award-winning infotainment program, "Amazing Earth."

Beginning June 13, Dingdong will explore more uncharted territories, discovering fascinating stories as told through the work of local heroes.

As for Vico, the Millennial Mayor will talk about the inroads they are making environment-wise in Pasig, spearheaded by their constituents’ floating farm concept.

Recall that since the advent of the program, Dingdong has shown his immeasurable commitment to deliver exciting adventures and stories to viewers every week as he treks dirt roads, wades in rivers, and climbs mountains.

Even with the pressing concerns brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, he proves to be a faithful eco-warrior through and through.

Though more than anything, his favorite part is the fact that their program can be of help in advocating environmental protection.

In terms of collaborating with Vico, Dingdong has nothing but good words.

In fact, he described the only child of Coney Reyes and Vic Sotto as a "humble" public servant.

"Very sincere," he pointed out, adding that his principles all boil down to his genuine concern for his constituents.

"It's not just lip-service," Dingdong reiterated. "His values match the actions he does."

He even tagged Vico as a "servant-leader" type of person.

And it impressed him that at a very young age, the latter was able to do so many things for their municipality.

"He has this very clear perspective on how a leader should govern his city."
