Octogenarian couple robbed, killed in Northern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY – An octogenarian couple was stabbed to death while their grandson was wounded in a robbery incident in Barangay Bobolosan, Laoang, Northern Samar last Wednesday, June 9.

The fatalities were identified as Basilesa Obradilla Esparas, 80; and Franko Lipata Esparas, 89. Injured was Mark Angelo delos Santos Esparas, 18.

Initial investigation disclosed that a man clad in bonnet and gloves entered the house of the victims and asked Franko for his wallet at knifepoint before stabbing him and his wife.

Their grandson, Mark Angelo, who was stabbed thrice, woke up seeing his grandfather handing over his wallet to the intruder before they were stabbed.

Mark Angelo became unconscious for hours and was able to seek help upon waking up. He was rushed to GB Tan Hospital for several stab wounds.

Local police are still investigating the possible identity and arrest of the suspect.
