Suspect in the killing of Brigada media network exec yields

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A suspected gunman in the killing of Brigada media network executive surrendered on Monday to police authorities.

PColonel Gilberto Tuzon, city police director, identified the suspect as Ralph Gerald Sorabia, 27, who was positively by witnesses who shot and killed Yentez Quintoy,39, executive director of Brigada media corporation, while driving her sports utility vehicle on her way home in Barangay San Isidro, this city, last Friday June 4.

Police are eyeing personal grudge as the motive behind the killing of Quintoy who reportedly figured in misunderstanding with the suspect who worked as an administrative officer of a security agency which is affiliated with Brigada corporation.

Police said Quintoy had reportedly worked out for the dismissal of the suspect from his work which could have triggered the latter to kill the victim.

Elmer Catulpos, Chief Executive Officer of Brigada corporation, had earlier offered a P1 million reward money for the solution of the case.

He thanked the police authorities for the immediate action to solve the killing of his long-time executive assistant.

During a press conference on Monday, Tuzon denied that the suspect was a fall guy in which the investigation of the case was haphazardly conducted amid the reward money.

‘The suspect was positively identified by the witnesses as the one who shot the victim,” Tuzon said.

Police said Sorabia served as the backrider together with another suspect riding on motorcycle who waylaid the victim using a .45 caliber pistol.

PCapt. Abdulsaman Mamalinta, said the suspect opted to surrender after he was being tracked down by a crack police team tasked to investigate the killing.

Police are set to file murder charges against Sorabia who was placed under custodial investigation at the Police Station 4 here.
