Manila, FoodPanda ink deal to provide bicycle units, safety gear to freelance delivery riders

The city government of Manila partnered with FoodPanda Philippines anew to provide bicycle units and safety gear to freelance delivery riders.

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and FoodPanda Philippines managing director Dan Marogy on June 9 signed a memorandum of agreement for the program called “pandaBIZikleta.”

The first 30 beneficiaries of the program will receive bicycles and safety gear donated by international relief organization Samaritan's Purse to the city of Manila.

They will also be hired as a freelance FoodPanda rider and will receive a rider kit consisting of uniforms, thermal box, thermal bag, and panda mask for free.

“Succeeding beneficiaries of the project will receive discounts for FoodPanda kits at an affordable installment,” the Manila Public Information Office said.

The Manila Public Employment Service Office (PESO-Manila), which will administer the program, will soon announce the requirements and other details for beneficiary application.

Food Panda said it is grateful to Domagoso for working with them anew to contribute to the city’s economic recovery programs.

The delivery platform had previously partnered with the city government of Manila for its pandaTODA project aimed at helping tricycle drivers displaced due to the pandemic.
