"I am happy because the men and women of the Bulacan State University (BSU) are united in one project," Villanueva said during the event, adding he wanted a world-class BSU in the near future.

He announced that the BSU will have a College of Medicine in 2022 because of the enactment of the Doctor para sa Bayan Law or Republic Act 11509.

In a short interview with members of the Bulacan Press Club, Dra Cecilia Gascon, BSU president, said the proposed project will be constructed in a 25-hectare lot owned by BSU in the city. The area is part of the 50-hectare land granted by former President Joseph Estrada in 1998 to the Philippine Information Agency in Barangay Bulihan, Malolos.

She said the five-story building will accommodate the BSU administration personnel, including the executive officer.

Gascon said the building is designed with solar electrical features and an open passive cooling system.

The P324-million fund for the construction of the building was sourced from the 2021-2023 General Appropriations Act sponsored by Senator Villanueva.

Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando cited the importance of continuously developing the education sector. He said he is proud to have studied at the BSU that molded him and helped him realize his potentials.

Fernando said all Bulakenyos, including the marginalized sector, can now avail of quality education in the province’s state university.

He thanked the BSU officials for continuously pouring projects that could help develop the province.
