12 million workers from 'NCR+8' prioritized in A4 COVID-19 vaccination - DOH


The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, June 7, said around 12 million essential workers from Metro Manila and eight other provinces will prioritized in the vaccination of A4 priority group against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Philippines has officially started the inoculation of essential workers under A4 priority group on Monday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reiterated the earlier announcement of vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez, Jr. that essential workers in areas within “NCR-plus 8” will be prioritized in the A4 vaccination.

These areas include the National Capital Region (NCR), Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Batangas, Cebu, and Davao.

“Sa NCR-plus 8, may (In NCR-plus 8, the) total estimate of these A4 workers at around 12 million individuals),” Vergeire said in a press briefing.

Citing the guidelines for A4 vaccination, Vergeire said that the inoculation of essential workers may be stratified according to age.

She said that local government units “can stratify from the oldest until the youngest.”

The health official added that the vaccine cluster would soon release operational guidelines on what is the threshold before shifting to other age groups for the A4 vaccination.
