Young cop revives drowning victim in Isabela

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela – A young policeman was praised after he revived a 40-year-old man who drowned at the Abuan River in Barangay Rang-Ayan here last Friday.

Police Patrolman Maynard P. Llapitan, 24, and other operatives of the 1st Isabela Provincial Mobile Force Company were in the area conducting patrol when residents asked them to help a drowning victim identified as Ramon Domingo Jr.

Llapitan, without hesitation, immediately applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and was able to revive Domingo, to the relief of residents who were on their toes.

While Llapitan was performing the CPR, other members of the police unit also took turns in assisting him.

After taking Domingo’s pulse rate and making sure his breathing was already OK, they immediately called the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to transport him to the nearest hospital for proper medication.

Police Col. James Cipriano, Isabela police chief, cited them for a job well done.
