DOST Region II Director Sancho A. Mabborang has been appointed as replacement of the late Undersecretary for Regional Operations Dr. Brenda L. Nazareth-Manzano, who died on Feb. 4, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

In separate Facebook posts, DOST Region II and and the Isabela State University (ISU) extended felicitations to Mabborang for his new appointment.

“Congratulations to Usec. Sancho Mabborang! Newly appointed Usec for Regional Operations, your DOST 02 family is proud of you!,” read the DOST Region II’s Facebook post.

The ISU also congratulated Mabborang for his new post, citing that the regional director "has made significant contributions to the university, especially in scientific research and development."

DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña likewise welcomed Mabborang’s appointment, describing the new undersecretary as a “model regional director.”

"I am very happy about the appointment of Engr Sancho Mabborang. He has been a model regional director- introducing many timely, relevant and innovative programs in his region that have demonstrated science for the people,” he said.

"The nationwide project oneSTore which he coordinates has become a good tool or medium during the pandemic when on line ordering and delivery has become a new normal. He is a very welcome member of our top DOST Management Team,” he added.

As an e-commerce web application, OneSTore.ph helps the DOST-assisted micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) widen the scope of their target market.

The DOST Region II said the e-commerce platform aims to sustain the growth of MSMEs and promote inclusive growth in the countryside.

"Specifically, it aims to help MSMEs promote their products to a wider market base, build relevant information to facilitate e-marketing of products, and establish partnerships, networks and linkages for efficient operations,” it said.

The system is registered to the Intellectual Property Office in the Philippines applied under the name and authority of the DOST II.
