Lady media executive gunned down in Gensan
Police Capt. Abdulsalam Mamalinta, chief of the city police Station 4, said victim Yentez Quintoy, 34, was traversing a portion of the NLSA Road in Barangay San Isidro aboard a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) at 12:15 p.m. when she was waylaid by two motorcycle-riding suspects.
He said the suspects, who were aboard a black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle, came close to the Mistubishi Xpander SUV driven by the victim as it reached the corner of the NLSA Road and Guinto St. in Purok Masunurin and opened fire.
Quintoy, the executive office director and chief of staff of Brigada Group, sustained bullet wound in the body and was declared dead upon arrival at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, he said.
“(The) suspects immediately escaped from the scene towards NLSA Road,” Mamalinta said.
Witnesses said the suspects appeared to have been trailing the victim when she left the Brigada Group’s main office situated in the same barangay.
In a statement, the company said the incident happened as Quintoy was driving home to have lunch with her children.
“Brigada is in full cooperation with the proper authorities even as initial steps have already been (made) to get into the bottom of this,” it said.
Brigada said Quintoy’s death is a big loss to the company “at this time that we are all faced with numerous challenges brought by the (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic.” It offered a P1-million reward to anyone who can give information that will lead to the capture “of whoever is behind the dreadful act.” The Brigada Group is the mother company of the homegrown Brigada Mass Media Corp., which operates a television station here as well as a network of newspapers in Mindanao and radio stations in parts of the country.
