“Di ako boboto ng magmamana lang ng pwesto (I won’t vote for somebody who will just inherit the position),” Domagoso told CNN Philippines when asked about his toughest competition among President Duterte’s 2022 presidential bets.

“Di ako naniniwala na ang pwesto sa gobyerno, lalo na ang pinakamataas na pwesto, ang qualification ay dapat anak ka ni ganito, anak ka ni ganyan (I don’t believe that the qualification for a position in the government, especially the highest one, should be based on the fact that this person is the child of this and that)...I will not vote for that person whoever they are,” he added.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on June 3 said President Duterte has five persons in mind who can succeed him as president in 2022.

Domagoso was among the five names listed by the President along with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, Senator Manny Pacquiao, and former senator Bongbong Marcos.

The Manila mayor, however, clarified that he is not pertaining to any person and is just giving a general statement when asked if he was talking about Mayor Sara, who is the President’s daughter.
