The Department of Health (DOH) assured the public that coronavirus disease (COVID-19) storage facilities and vaccination centers are prepared in case disasters strike.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that facilities related to COVID-19 vaccination have been instructed to take the necessary steps so that their operations will not be hampered.

“Tayo ay nakapagpalabas uli ng pagpapaalala sa ating vaccination sites regarding power outages, regarding flooding, regarding strong rains para po hindi nagkakaroon ng epekto sa ating pagbabakuna (We have already issued reminders regarding power outages, flooding, strong rains so that our vaccinations will not be affected),” she said.

“So itong ating mga (For our) vaccination sites, right now are ready for these kinds of disasters,” she added.

Vergeire said that power generators were already prepared in case rotational power interruptions hit the different cold storage facilities.

“Napag utusan na po ang ating regional office para ikutin at ma check ang ating mga vaccination sites and there storage facilities para wala pong masisirang mga bakuna because of these power outages (Our regional office has been instructed to check our vaccination sites and storage facilities so that no vaccines will be spoiled because of these power outages),” she said.
